I'm on a Trip

Postby FulsGld » 16 Wed Dec, 2009 9:14 pm

Hey All;

My name is Gary, and I'm on a trip that I've been trying to do for three years. t started around the 7th of Nov. My wife and I headed to Pismo Beach from where we live in Eastern Washington. We spent 4 days on the beach with family and friends and our buggys. After Pismo, my wife flew home, and now I'm in the motorhome with one dog and my wife's Manx Turista. I drove down the CA coast to drop off a buggy gas tank to a friend in Santa Clarita, then headed to Tucson where another buggy guy, his wife, and I bounced around the desert for a day in our buggys. I hung around there for a week, then left on monday to head East. I'm now in Kerrville at the KOA. Some of you know a fellow by the name of GreenManx (Greg), and he said I should get in touch with you guys and see if you're going to be doing any buggy things. I'm just meandering now, and I've always wanted to see Galvaston, so I' heading there via San Antonia and Huston. Then I'm heading to Gautier, MS, maybe Florida, then Georgia , Alabama, then back to I-10 for the trip home. So, is anyone doing any buggy stuff the next couple of days or in a couple of weeks, or just want to get together for a beer, let's get together.

Hey Gary,
I was just on the phone with Greg, and in the course of our conversation he told me about you. I'm located in Rosenberg, Texas which is about 27 miles from Sealy if you take SH 36. Rosenberg is also about 20 mi. south of Katy via FM 1463-FM 359-FM 723.

I have meetings most of the afternoon tomorrow till about 5:00 pm. Nothing much on schedule for Friday, but will be leaving town early Saturday morning.

If any of that works for you let me know and you could stop by or we could meet for a get-to-know-you. Unfortuantely, no buggy things are in the making at the moment.

My phone number is 281-238-0577. It's now about 8:35 pm and I'm usually up till about 11:00pm.

Likewise, if you have any problems and need help don't hesitate to let us in the Greater Houston area know and help will be on the way.

Hi Gary:

I talked to you when you were restoring the Resorter. I'm the guy that ended up with the metelflake red resorter from Florida, it was on ebay. I'm 30 miles north of Dallas. The weather is great for buggies and no great off roading up here, but if you are in this area, call and we'll try to get some of the local guys together for a short ride and a beer. Rick 239 834 1913. Thanks, it would be great to meet you.

Hey Gary, I'm with Rick. We are up here in north Texas. Right now your in the best part of Texas, but we only get down there 2 or 3 times a year. We are always excited to meet buggy nuts from out of state.
There are a lot of us guys up north and east of Dallas. If you get up this way on this leg or your leg back west, let us know. There are no fancy places around here to cruise, but I'll still bring the buggy out and meet you.
Let me or Rick know. 214-766-2326

Consider jumping up to I-20 for your return. You'd be farther north but the weather shouldn't be too bad (he says with fingers crossed and a sly smile on his face...)

Brian B, and Bryan P., and any other Houston Area buggy lovers: Gary will be stopping by my house tomorrow around 5:30 pm. If any of you can make it, we could get together for a great visit at one of our local restaurants.

I know he would love to get to meet you and do some "Buggy Talking".

Hey Guys;

Thanks for the great response. Looking forward to meeting any or all of you. Not sure when I'll be coming back through. Depends on how far east I get. Trying to make it to Florida, but may only go as far as MS, GA, and AL. I'm suppose to be in Quartzsite, AZ on the 15th of Jan, but may blow that off if there is something more exciting going on. Plus, the weather is really going to push me around. Hey Rick, would sure like to see your place and the other Resorter that got away (he, he). Is this rain going to hang around long?

Hi Gary:

No rain here. Pretty cold though. 30's to 50's. If you do come back through North Texas, what dates are you looking at.

I lived in Gautier for about five years. I love that area but there's not much to see. You must have family there .

Just to keep you all posted: Gary came by the house yesterday evening and spent the night at our place. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet him and to spend some time talking dune buggies. I especially enjoyed learning about the California perspective on dune buggying.

When he comes back through Texas if he is coming anywhere near you be sure to invite him over for a visit. He's a really nice guy, and I know you will be glad you got to meet him.

Sorry, no other pictures of the buggy, but it is a rare body (I think 85 made) called a Tourista / Resorter (I hope I have that right). It is built on a long chassis and has no sides which allows for real ease of getting in and out.
