Cool..I thought you'd built a wheelies only buggy there for a minute..
One tought on your air horns. I used to have mine pointed forward. They took a couple of rocks and some water...pretty much killed 'em.
Now they're pointed down and slightly forward.
And the kid that used to do my inspection didn't want to pass them, I asked him if he was in this buggy and a truck started to pull over, what would he want. The air horns or a stock VW horn....he passed them.
Its a real buggy, problem is that it looks a whole lot better in the photos than it does in real life. But its fun and I can tweak it in smaller projects now.
While I have this all apart, and in an effort to clean things up some, I've ditched the steering dampner, and cut off all the brackets, etc.
Is there any reason to retain the stops on the sides of the beam. I don't know the appropriate name for them, typically they have the big rubber covers on them.
I'd like to cut them off. Beams I've seen from AirKewld and aluminum beams don't have them.
Any unforeseen ramifications to just cutting them off?
Cory, are you gonna do anything with the damper? I still get some wobble when I go over bumpy spots at speed, maybe one of them will help. Also, if you cut off the bump stops dont you risk bottoming the tire out on the fender and tearing up your bodywork?
I'm not doing anything with the damper, you are welcome to it, but its really worn out, I don't think it was adding anything anyway.
Yes I will run the risk of bottoming out, especially if I tuck the wheels up under the fenders. But I don't anticipate taking it over much in the line of obstacles.
