Steering Wheels whatcha got?

Postby BrianB » 04 Thu Feb, 2010 2:48 pm

I am ready to buy a steering wheel for the buggy and just wanted some input. There are many types available and some have drawbacks and some dont. There are foam grip, vinyl grip, wood grip, Billet Aluminum grip and leather grip. I think Aluminum would hold up best but would get hot in the sun. Wood grip the finish would fade and chip. Leather and foam would stay wet after getting caught in the rain. Who has a wheel they wish they didnt have? Just looking for opinions 8-)

Believe it or not but the Billit Aluminum does not get hot in the sun. It don't even get warm. had one on mine for the first 3 years.

It was round with a small flat spot on the back and no it does not get slippery in the rain and I know this because I have been in a complete frogg chocker thanks to my good friend David.

The larger the diameter the wheel the easier and the slower it is to turn. The smaller the diameter the harder and quicker it is to turn.
Chrome will spot rust.
Ive had no problems with my 15" foam wheel.
Polished aluminium means you will be polishing aluminium on a regular bases.
It's EASY.... if you know how.

Brian, I have no trouble with my 13" Grant aluminum and wooden wheel. There isn't enough weight in the front end to worry about how hard it is to turn the wheel, and the smaller wheel gives me more room to get in and out. I love it. :)
