Top idea for manx style buggy???!!!

ok, just thought i would throw this out there and see if anyone has ever heard of it, or possibly even tried it?? I want a top for my buggy, but i dont really want a bikini top, and i dont want a full blown hard top. has anyone ever thought about making one out of lexan, then tinting it, and then put some sort of a frame around it where you can mount it to the windshield frame and to the roll bar. i know the buggy will have some flex and might crack the lexan, but if its in a frame of some sort, maybe it will work. what do yall think. i think it would be great if it works, you will have the protection from the sun, but yet still have the view!!! let me know.

yeah, that is pretty much what im wanting to do!! I probably missed it somewhere in all the comments, but do you know what he used for the top and how he made it?

No telling what he used, between the two companies divisions MGM and FRP they pretty much have a hand in everything plastic or fiber reinforced. http://www.mgmplastics.com/

Its funny you should post this. The example in the link is what I have been thinking of doing for while now.I have a 4x8 sheet tinted Plexi that I was going to use for Bradley GT Gull Wing doors that will work great for that. My only thought is entry and exit from the Buggy. Being that my windshield is not standard height and the roll bar is also low I may have trouble getting in and out. With a fabric top there is more give to allow you to squeeze in. I'll probably make a template out of cardboard first and see how it works. It would be best to sink some nutserts into the roll cage to make removal an easy process.

very good point!!! i didnt think about the getting in and out. i know i can manage though if it makes cruising a bit nicer and more comfortable. i agree with you on the nutserts too. my main deal is figuring out how to mount it to keep it from cracking from the flex, and trying to figure out what to use as a frame for it? i think im gonna give it a shot in the next few weeks and see what i can come up with.
