Dune Buggy for rent?

Postby Texas50 » 12 Mon Sep, 2011 7:04 pm

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know of a place near Houston/Galveston to rent a street legal dune buggy?

I need a fix! ;)

I am still looking...not luck yet in the Houston/Galveston area. I have seen the advertisements for golf carts. I am about to the point of driving all over the island looking for a place. I am waiting for an email reply from some convention and tourism folks.

The only place I have ever seen vw powered dune buggy rentals was at South Padre Island. And the condition of these was pathetic and they were $300/hour! and this was 3-4 years ago.
I have never seen any place in Galveston, or Surfside/Freeport, or Port Aransas, or Corpus Christi that rents any type of vw powered dune buggy, rail of fiber glass.
I have found no web search for any such place, anywhere on the Texas coast.
Golf carts are now registrable street vehicles in most beach communities and are very very often referred to as "dune buggy's". This tends complicate the search results.

For 300 clams an hour... maybe we need to start a new "dune buggy's" for rent section to the forum?

Your search results sound exactly like mine... :D

update - I heard from the tourism folks and they said they don't know of any rental places.
