Faron's Progress!

Postby Faron » 15 Mon May, 2006 9:03 pm

OK Mike you are correct!!! I am excited, and talking with my hands! :D I can finally say that I have some real progress. I put the rollcage in just so that it looks like a car rather then some wierd creation. ( Per little girl next door!) Next stop rear brakes!

Thanks! I am doing the very best I can!

I am doing EVERYTHING on a cash only basis, so it will make take a little longer. But the whole thing will be mine when I am finished!

Yes Carlos I have a plate under the front of the rollbar. Thanks for worring about me! When are you going to be in town again, perhaps we can do lunch!

Roll Cage

Postby Faron » 17 Wed May, 2006 10:04 pm

My article on the cage! HaHaHa
I loaded my Buggy in a small trailer that I have, and took it to Mike Broadway in Florasville. He called me about a week later and said I am done. Then he brought it to me, and I pulled out cash and handed it to him. Then I took it to a guy my Dad knows and said I like that color. A week later I handed him some cash. That was it! HaHaHa I am sorry to be so lame, but its the truth!

awe cmon faron you need to tell them about the small roll cage you made out of those little copper tubes, for a model example. he really did put alot of work into it guys, of course he didnt physically make it but the pre-design really shows. i am going to have him make mine too. only thing i was thinking is maybe put that crossbar for the steering shaft mount on the right front down tube. what do y'all think?

Check it Out! Rolling Chassis! YEA!

Postby Faron » 24 Sat Jun, 2006 9:33 pm

Check it out! It finally looks like a "something" as my Kids put it. This is the Wheels & Tires from my donor car, but at least I can wheel it in and out of my garage. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
Ohh and for those of you that are very observant, you will see a MINI in the background that is not mine. Thursday a guy came into the dealership and told me that he wanted my MINI more then I did. I am now car-less. I am going to beg borrow a car or truck from my Dad until March. With the money that I am saving from no payment I am going to work towards being debt free. Kinda crazy, but it makes sense to us. Image

ALright! Looks grrreat! Now, some advice..if the someone wants your mini, fine, trade it in or sell it..

If a dealership wants your buggy, NO WAY! Hahahaha, it's yours made by your own hands... keep it a while!

I took my roll-cage back to the welder in order to get something added. After having the cage for a little while I noticed what a crummy paint job it has. So when it gets home, I will sand it down. Clean up all the welds, and give it a new and exciting paint job.
While I took my cage to the welder, I also took buggyryans buggy. He is having a cage much like mine built. So perhaps his lazy butt will get up and put that thing together.

I have just about got the body to a point that I feel it is ready for the base coat of paint. I sanded it down to the original blue, and fixed all the holes and cracks. I should be painting it White in the next few weeks. Any last minute advice? HaHaHa My little girl is really starting to get excited, because I have promised to teach her to airbrush on the body. Should be really cool to have a Buggy body that we painted together! It took me a while but I figured out a way to get someone involved in this....I live in a house full of girls.

Front & rear Bumpers!

Postby Faron » 07 Sat Oct, 2006 9:53 pm

I FINALLY got my Buggy back from the welder. It was this and that, and it took a little over 2 months. But I have it back and I think they will be pretty cool when finished. I am going to add a little diamond plate to install my Brake lights, and license plate to the rear bumper. The front will get a the same thing. Will look like a skid plate with the license plate attached to it. I dont have my rims and tires yet so you will have to sort of guess what they will look like under there. I am thinking of putting one of those stinger exhaust on it, and will cut a hole for it to come through the body! (I Think, anyone see a problem with that?) Remember I like the off road look, so keep that in mind when you give your opinion. I am a car-salesman so you wont hurt my feelings if you dont care for it!

Opinions...

Postby Faron » 07 Sat Oct, 2006 10:10 pm

My buddy let me borrow a Wheel & Tire from the Pre-Owned department at work. I put it up to see how big and wide I need to go on the rear end of my buggy. This tire is about 28 inches tall, and the Wheel is a much to tall 19 inch. I know the wheel is to tall, I will use a 15 Inch Wheel. Please let me know what you think. Is this tire going to be tall & wide enough?

I'd roll 22's. The "pimp my ride style" is big right now at all the car shows.
The wheels you have pictured look nice!!!!

Seriously, purple velvet and zebra stripes, although not appealing to all is what catches the eyes of most show judges at these car shows. PIMP IT OUT, BRO!!!!!

22's for life!!!

you can go from 15 low profile up to 18 in the rear
the bigger the better

Well to be honest I like that big ole wheel myself. I don't think that I am going to pimp it out as much as Murzi said, but I will some. With a Funky paint job, and some wild wheels and tires!
How about 19 inch with low profile Off-road tires out back & 16 inch with low profile Off-road tires up front. What do you guys think and I crazy?

Why not just find some BMW takeoffs like you have. They look sweet!!! I know the bolt pattern is unique to BMW but you are going to redrill the rotors anyway right???

nothing says off road like bead lock wheels!!!!!!!!!
go to your local Discount and look thru the catalogs to see whats out there
they will be able to help you with back spacing and ordering info
just remeber like murzi said the wheels are half of the car
nice correct size wheels will make any car great
or wrong size wheels can kill a great car
it maters that much
dont skimp
