Anyone interested in getting a Long Body?

Postby Aquabuggy » 29 Sun Apr, 2007 7:59 pm

If anyone is interested in getting a long body, now is your chance!
I've been wanting one for some time now, Duner (Gary) a new member to our club is also wanting to get one for his brother.
If we can get a couple other people that would like to get an MGM long body,

or

Gary and his brother are willing to go to California to pick them up then we can all split up the cost of their trip.

If interested contact me or Duner.

Duner if I missed anything please feel free to elaborate

Thanks Chris,

Just wanted to let eveyone know that we are going to make this trip soon, basically we are getting our order together over the next few weeks so if you are serious about getting a long body we are making this trip. If we can get 1 or 2 more people interested at this time it will reduce the shipping cost to 250 - 300 and remember your not paying sales tax on the buggy.

We are trying to single source the trip but if you want the RTS enterprises body they are in the same neck of the woods (san diego area) I will also consider passing through LA if someone wants the new Empi Imp body by Unique supply.

Please let me or Aquabuggy (Chris) know if your serious. We will place orders in about 3 to 4 weeks once all of the bodies are ready we will make the trip to CA, the bodies will be brought back to our ranch near Victoria. I live in Houston and I have cousins in Dallas so we can help arrange local deliveries once were back.

This is probably a once in a lifetime trip as I went to Stockton CA about 7 years ago to pick up a car I bought and trailer it back to TX and I swore I would never do it again (never say never) anyway we are going at least this 1 time.

So don't miss your opportunity to get an MGM Long Body.

Cost of the Body is $1500 for standard colors, they will color match for no extra cost (car or truck color, I think my brother is going to have them match the blue on his ford truck), metalflake colors are $500 extra.

MGM does not make side pods for this body, if you want this feature we are contacting RTS Enterprises for side pods in basic white, but like all side pods they will need to be fitted to the car then painted to match. The side pods will be picked up on the same trip, I think the pods are $275 for the pair. I will confirm RTS pricing this week.

If you viewed the SAMBA add you may have noticed that all of buggy bodys were installed with a 3" body lift, this is not required but it does make the car more astethically pleasing to look at as well as adding more clearance for offroad tires.

Alright folks,

I see a lot of people looking but no one has yet stepped up the good news though is that I have a friend who is moving to San Diego next week and he has graciously invited us out to stay a few days when we come. The benefit is that we can now relax in San Diego for a couple of days at no cost to the trip, this will reduce the hotel and food costs plus I don't have to make an immediate turnaround and drive back.

Again if you would like a MGM or RTS Long Body Manx or and Empi Imp for a relatively low shipping cost now is your opportunity. We are working on utilizing a lighter trailer and getting the fuel milage on the F-250 from 21 up to 24 on this highway trip. Right now our current trailer drags the mileage down to 16-17 whether its loaded or not, plus it looks like diesel will hold near $3.00 to 3.25/gallon for the trip. I have been using 3.75 to 4.00 for my calculations and 15mpg so again were trying to make this as reasonable for everyone involved as possible.

Please contact either me or Chris via PM and let us know.

Last update on the Long Body trip.

We are ordering the bodies on this Friday if all goes well they will be ready near the end of June and we will be making the trip to San Diego at that time.

Color matching was not the way that I understood it - the process produces a flat base gel coat color so it is not anything close to the paint on my brother's truck - he is opting for a metal flake finish now since we would spend close to $500 in materials not to mention time to paint the buggy anyway.

So if you interested speak now!!

Ok for all of you who waffled and did not commit to the long bodies it is to late.

We have returned from the California Desert with two bodies in tow everyone will have to wait and see them in person as I'm not revealing the colors here.

The MGM bodies are very good quality wth a lot of attention to detail, some of the club members who have one of the 100 classic Manx's might actually have a body made by MGM. Bruce Meyers was impressed with their work and actually commissioned them to build a few of the 100 cars released a few years back. By the way they made 60 of them for Bruce, for you trivia nuts out there.

Stay tuned and maybe I will post the my brother's build photos on the forum.
