Very nice Steve! Thanks for the update. Can't wait to throw a few picks of the buggy build up but need to make a bit more progress before doing so. Keep up the good work dude...

That looks great Steve, awesome work. Looks like the body shop is really doing some great work and the body is really taking shape. What color ya going with on this one? Looks like you are going for a resto look.

Hey Steve, ya got more pics of your a/c brackets on the motor? Those are some cool compressors, work really well as a air compressor to run air tools believe it or not.

gunter has moved from body work to block and paint
I went over and did a thourgh look over the car and marked areas of
unaceptable work with a sharpie
to me if you get a car painted that is a must
that way you wont be disapointed with the end result
they were receptive and agreed that the work needed to be performed
block sanded early this week then paint by weeks end
we are excited about him coming home and on to the next phase of the build

Do you have any more info/pics on the flamed Ghia? It caused quite a stir on the Volksrods forum.

Thanks, Michael

well deleted the picks on this thread to make room for some more!!!!
I told my wife today the hard part is done and its all down hill from here or the point of no return
Gunter has a heart beat as well as a new face lift
the VW Wizard got the rebuilt engine fired over and running very smoth before the body goes on
no major problems to get it to run thats why they call him the wizard
man it sounds so sweet with out the chrome tubes but thiose got put on as soon as I got home

Gunter is out of paint now and he looks like a million bucks!!!!!!!!!!
the paint is PPG base - clear
with Porshe Gaurds Red and 4 coats or a gallon of clear
it looks a little orange in the Picks camera malfunction
but believe me that car is RED!!!!
there was only one run in the clear and minor orange peel to be removed tomorrow
The Body Shop guys acted like it was there first born LOL
hope to have the body back on the chassie this weekend with doors and bonets installed and ready to come home
will post more as I go

I dont think I have ever seen a little car smile that much
the next time you look at a car and think its too much to try and save just remember

Great job!! I wish we were going to the Texas Show this year to see that car. Sometimes is seems like the wife gets the better looking car (do you know what I mean?). It like like our 1st car is just practice to build them something better. At least your wife has a car that would be in a differnt class than you at a VW show. Keep up the good work. Tom

Ghia

Postby Patrick » 14 Wed Mar, 2007 10:52 pm

How long is your Ghia? Or does anyone that has a Ghia know how long one would be from front to back. Would one fit on a 16foot trailer without any problems. Thanks, Pat

here is some shots we took tonight
man it seems to take forever to get this thing done :o
if it was a buggy I would have been done months ago 8-) LOL

I took off some vacation time to get some stuf done
got most of the sound deadiner in used a brand called second skin
pretty good stuf
then went on to carpet and misc stuf seems to be a million little pieces that have to be found then cleaned painted and installed ;-)
oh well things are going well and he rolls under his own power now :D
took it out of the garage to move to the other side to continue the fun
enjoy
blackthree4me
this first pick is of me doing the wirieng (explanation)
my dad always told me it will only go in that tight spot if you hold your mouth just right
he was right again 8-) thanks Dad
