Freeway Buggy Crash

Postby Texasbuggys » 09 Thu Aug, 2007 6:26 pm

From newspaper, buggy driver was weaving in and out of traffic whe he clipped another vehicle and rolled several times. Alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the accident. Single bar would not have done much to protect the driver. I think this occured in WI.

Dune Buggy Crashes Into Car, Causes Backup On I-94

POSTED: 3:32 pm CDT August 8, 2007
UPDATED: 4:10 pm CDT August 8, 2007

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. -- Traffic was still backed up Wednesday afternoon after a dune buggy crashed into a car on Interstate 94 earlier this afternoon.

Witnesses said the driver of the dune buggy was driving recklessly in and out of traffic. Just when it passed the Highway C overpass, it switched lanes and hit a Ford Taurus, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

The dune buggy lost control and rolled over several times and the driver was ejected, authorities said.

The 42-year-old dune buggy driver, of Oconomowoc, was taken by Flight For Life to Froedtert Hospital with serious head and possibly internal injuries.

The 58-year-old Wauwatosa man in the Taurus was not injured.

Alcohol could be a factor, the sheriff's department said.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department asks that drivers avoid I-94 westbound near Highway T.

Second accident involving "show bars" this year. Be careful out there. Make sure your "bar" is more that muffler clamped to the torsion. Sad.
