Postby Texasbuggys » 14 Thu Feb, 2008 1:55 pm

Hey guys, just wanted to pass on a pretty good deal on a basic wiring / fuse block setup that maybe helpfull and an upgrade from the basic buggy harness setup. It is a 12 circuit system and has flasher mount and relay onboard. About $100 so not to bad.

Yep I went with the 8 circuit fuse block and it worked great.

I have used the 8 circuit twice. One or two minor mods made it work like a champ.

Gossamer,
No, its not your newb-ness showing at all. thats the front firewall of a Bradley GT kit I built for a customer. Despite my suggestions he like the Home Depot fresh air vent and wanted me to keep them. Its a floor register for your home. It brought fresh air in from the outside.

That is exactly what I thought it was. I didn't see what good that would be in a buggy - but I guess in a Bradley it might be a little more understandable.

So you liked it? What did you add? I bought the 12 circuit one and I have a bunch of common terminal strips for the grounds.

I personally like them alot. Great price and I think they are nice and basic, just like the buggies I build. The mods that I make to the 8 circuit are pretty basic.
1. On the 8 circuit they have two extra constant hot wires. I make one of them keyed. Not a big deal but that way they work well for a radio. It just involves cutting the little brass strip that the fuse attaches to and running a small jumper wire from the keyed side of the block to that terminal. I think its the green and yellow wires on the 8 circuit.
2. I also make the relay a negative trigger for the horn. Again, not a big deal because I just use the small ring terminal that your supposed to ground to trip the relay to go for the horn signal, and tap the red wire to trigger the coil on the relay into a constant hot on the small brass fuse connector.
3. I also use relays for the headlights, wipers, start button (if applicable) and flashers (if using a simple toggle on/toggle off switch.)

Grounds I run to the terminal strips. I also use terminal strips for the headlights and blinkers.

Maybe its not the best system but I like that all the grounds go back to one spot so trouble shooting is easy.

Bobby
I found a 12 circuit at the boat place that has the ground built on the module with a cover and good for 125 amps. All metal parts are made of s/steel. I thank it was $56.00 and made by Blue Sea. They make then in 6 circuit too I will include a photo on my next posting

Been on line all morning looking for a good complete harness. The $65 one looks incomplete. Found one on EBAY for $250 that seems to have all the relays and blade style fuse block. Dont mind paying a little extra to keep me from going all over town trying to find that missing piece. Anybody got an oppinion or a favorite suplier of harnesses.
It's EASY.... if you know how.

Don't forget all the ground wire you will need....no matter who you choose for the harness.
