New guy...artist type from Tucson

Postby lemorris » 28 Thu Feb, 2008 11:38 pm

Hi all

I know I'm not Texas and I realize it may seem odd that a new guy is asking for something in his first post but I got no choice here...I need your help.

Let's do the intro thing first though, then I'll shamelessly beg.

My name is lemorris and I am an artist type dude in Tucson Arizona. Axtually I'm an artist, my wife Carole is an artist and my teenage daughter is an artist too. My teenage son is more into film production but more on that in a bit.

Anyway...I drive a 58 Euro Rag named Mistie (vid of my car: http://dhpvw.com/blog/?p=95) daily for the last almost 7 years. I am an active...some say "the" active member of the Dryheat Panzers. I do the art and the videos for the club. I also do all the art and media for Chirco Performance and Restoration.

I get to do art for shirts and stuff all the time. I do show pshaw and blah blah blah...I'm not here to sell myself and I'm not looking for work so I don't want to be all salesy.

My site is here:

http://www.lemorris.com

the DHP videos are here:

http://www.dhphut.com/movies/movies.html the clucb site is here: http://www.dhpvw.com.

So anyway...I'm a VW guy...it's a disease...I'm terminal.

Now

Like I said I do the Chirco art and I am setting the plan for the shirts for the 13th annual Bugtoberfest. Big deal out here as it's Southern Arizona's largest show. That means beans compared to texas but anyway...it is what it is. In any case for this years shirt I want to do a Manx or fiberglass buggy on the shirt. I posted a deal in chirco's forum asking peoiple to post pictures but it's largely been ignored. My plan is to pick someone who has posted on Chirco's site. (Once again I'm not saleing here...I'm just gettin skunked and I need one of these to draw).

All I need is for some one or someone's to post their cars in that thread. I will pick a car to draw from that thread. It will be on the shirt. The chosen car owner will reciebe 3 or so shirts and hi res files of their car drawing suitable for printing and framing. I also do a progression build for all my art so they can see the development online. There are no strings other than the pics need to be posted in that thread so it is a "Chirco forum participant" You do not have to be an active poster or a customer...just post a pic in that thread.

so...have I ever drawn a buggy?...well once I did.

It's an Imp

here's the whole progression

That's it for now...I'm more than willing to share my art and answer questions or whatever. I wouldn't just sign up and not participate so I don't want you guys thinkin I'm here to use you. It's just that I'm not gettin any buggy love out here and it appears that this site has love to give.

Oh...here's that Chirco thread

I would really appreciate getting a chance to draw a cool ride for someone so....see what you can do.

Thanks a lot

I've seen that before at the Samba. You do excellent work, and if mine was anywhere close to done, I'd try to hire you to draw it out.

Will the shirts be available for sale to non-attendees?

Thanks Bill. I posted, along with a few others. That would be way to cool to have a shirt with your car on it. Where's yours?

lemorris:

Watched the video of your ride - I WANT ONE! Guy here at work followed me in the back gate yesterday driving a very nice looking, VERY red, 67 beetle. I made a u-turn and followed him to where he parked, then checked his car out (and took photos) later in the day. I had dreams last night! It's a disease...

I can pretty much draw any VW

here's my gallery

what i do for internet folk is...I have them send me hires pics and then I store them.

many times my clients don't specify a certain car so I'll get to pick what goes on the shirt. I go through the hi res shots and pick someone. That way the client pays my fee and I'm able to give a gift to someone online.
