The real story is as follows:

I, Neal, started the Texas Chapter of the Meyers Manx Club because in conversation with Winnie was that they had no intention of ever having a club meet out this way. They stated that while members were from all over the country they had no events outside of California. BUT we were more than happy to form local shows, cruise by ourselves.

We started the Texas Chapter of the National Meyers Manx club only to have a lot of people say:

We were trying to take over the Original Club. When we had an event here the original ads from the national club ALWAYS stated that "this is not a santioned Manx Club Event".

That originally hurt some feelings out this way, then to be followed up with " we were making buggy bodies out here and calling them Original Manxes really upset me. I tried to explain it but those at the time kept on interneting about how we were causing trouble. And I was called all kinds of names. When I stood up for my friends out here who were NOT making Meyers Manx copies or calling them Manxes ( the ones I'm talking about do not look like a Manx - they started making bodies when we could never get a new body out here - to this day I have never heard them advertize they sell "manxes"), everyone thought I was a nut. I was also one who incouraged people to join the national cub. I stop doing that when someone called me a "little Turd".

We changed our name to the Texas Manx Dune Buggy Club for that reason. I We have had since a lot of great people from California come on out here and found out that we are not what people thought we were.

I have no bad feelings but it was a ruff start, after two open heart surgeries, I had to step down and let Greg Rardin run it. We have NEVER had bad feelings toward California Club, or clubs. In fact I am a member of both the RBC and DSB, and was a member of the natinal until a whole year went by without a news letter. Would like to be a national member again but I would like to receive newsletter when they get it straightened out. But that is how we started.

Well, I hope there are not and don't want any hard feelings about the national guys and gals. I have learned over the years that what I say in English out here does not really come out the way it does out there. An example is in California they say "dude" which has all kinds of meanings out there and we say "that is a S - - t load out hear, if you know what I mean. I still support the National's goals and I am excitedly waiting the whole new look to the national just like everyone else.

My new project Buggy is going more or less backwards to most. I am doing the engine first, then I will follow with the chassis and suspension, then the body ( which will a highly modified one built by me as "my work of art". I have just gotten the new computer working with pictures and what not, so all my "Neal's Corner" section will be replaced with the new format within a week. That way you can follow along as I go.

I will say the new motor is a 84 X 94 with 3/4 race cam, over sized valved "Semi Hemi" cut heads, polished block, Polished Manafolds, High lift rockers, compu fire 009 dizzy, and a Blower!. There are going to be alot of machined handmade parts along with ultra detailing. You will be able to follow along as I go through the way I build the engine, chassis, and body - stay tuned.

Pictures are worth a thousand words!
